- Ashlin - Sixteen - Junior - Heterosexual -
Though she is a junior, this is is Ashlin's first year at St. Johns. Born in the heat of summer to Caden Donlevy and Erin Healy. Erin was sixteen at the time, and her boyfriend Caden seventeen. She didn't want a child and was going to terminate her pregnancy, but Caden convinced her not to. Though it hadn't been planned, and although he was still young, he liked the idea of raising a child of his own. Erin wanted no part in it, but agreed to at least carry the child for him instead of ending it's life before it was even born. However, Caden's own mother refused to let a child "ruin" her son's life. When the child, a little girl, was born, Caden and Erin barely had a chance to give her her name, Ashlin, before his mother acted. She sent the infant away with a social worker and made sure that Ashlin's records were sealed so that her son could not reclaim custody of the baby.
Caden never did forgive his mother for taking his child away. And while he went on with his life, he never did forget about Ashlin. He built up a successful software business. It gave him great power and money which attracted many women to him but he never married or had another child. With a lot of under the table payments, he did however manage to unseal his daughter's records and discovered that she was living in America. He had been contemplating moving to help expand his business there as well, and knowing that in doing so he could reach his daughter at last only helped solidify his plans.
During that time, Ashlin was bounced around from foster home to foster home. She was nearly adopted three times but something always fell through. Though she was a good child, she never seemed to be able to stay in one place for very long. And like any child in her position, the foster care system was not always kind. Sure, there were families that cared for her well being and safety. But they were few and far between. Most of the families who took her in only cared for the money it earned them. It didn't matter to them what happened to Ashlin, and as such, many of the couples and families she lived with treated her like dirt. Some forced her into domestic servitude, others kept her locked in a closet for days on end if she forgot to say "please" or "thank you" just once with no food and barely any water. It wasn't a pleasant life, but it was the only life she knew. And she was lucky in way; Ashlin was never subjected to the sexual abuse that so many other foster children went through.
When she turned fifteen, an American family sought to adopt her. Everything was in order so Ashlin and what few possessions she had were packed up and sent from Ireland to America. They were a nice enough family. The mother and father were so kind to kind to her. Their three-year-old daughter was an angel! The only thing that made her wary was their seventeen year old son. It was a perfect family. But while they were waiting for the last of the paperwork to go through, tragedy struck. James Carver, the father in the family, was killed in a horrible car accident. Suddenly, the family could no longer afford to officially adopt Ashlin. But instead of sending her back to Ireland, Mrs. Carver decided to keep her as- what else- a foster child. But Ashlin didn't mind it in the least. She was so kind to the girl, and she adored her new family, even if they weren't really hers.
Then one day, a man came to the Carver home. An Irish man with papers proclaiming that he was Ashlin's biological father. Of course it excited the girl, but it brought up so many questions about who he was, who that made her, and why she had been given up in the first place. After nearly a year of visiting the man and learning about him, she was finally given her answers. On her sixteenth birthday, Caden Donlevy was granted custody of Ashlin and she was more than happy to live with her father. He spoiled her rotten and did all he could to make up for fifteen years' time of absence. However, Ash was so used to moving around every couple months that staying in one place was hard for her, and by extention, hard for her father. So he decided the best thing to do was sent her to St. Johns where she could get a decent education and move to and from her home to campus when school started and ended which, they both hoped, would keep her from getting too antsy being stuck in just one place.
Making friends doesn't exactly come easy to Ashlin. In the past, every time that she would finally become close and potentially have a new friend, she would be uprooted and sent to another foster home where she was forced to start all over again. As such, she eventually just closed herself off with the mindset of "why bother"; she would just be leaving soon again anyways, so what was the point in making friends just to lose them again? But now that she's been given a permanent home with her father and a chance at forming true relationship with other students, Ashlin is more than willing to give friendship a try. She'll value her friendships over anything else, and would be loyal to a fault.
For the same reason she never really had a chance to make friends with others, Ash also has yet to experience any form of love. Sure, she has had crushes in the past, but moving around so often made it impossible for her to ever let her feelings be known to anyone. As such, she has never had a boyfriend, or even her first kiss. She's a bit of a hopeless romantic but at the same time, her inexperience regarding love has made her a bit shy about it as well.
She never really had a chance to form any enemies in the past. But who knows? That could change now. Her closed-off nature may make her seem like she thinks she's better than everyone else- which is quite the opposite of her true thoughts- but not everyone gets along with everyone else. Ashling is no exception to that.
There are many things that Ashlin likes. She likes lilies, old folk songs as well as alternative rock and other genres, swimming, and outdoor activities. But her number one passion is dancing. Her dream is to become a famous dancer one day.
There are also things that she dislikes though. Most bugs, violence of any sort, and loud arguments are among the things she does not like. Ashlin completely despises liars, people who hurt others, and those tell others that they're worthless. She was exposed to many such people when she was in the foster system, and cannot stand them to this day.
